submitted by Dana Y. - |Recommended: YesGreat for starter living spaces or getting back on your feet. — Admittedly I'm coming from a bit more life experience than the average resident living at the Grove apartments. I moved in because the price was right. Cost of living has been tough, and these student apartments allow for a lower rent than almost anywhere else. It is a great place to start out, or in my case, to get back on my feet. I am in my mid 30s and while I am an online student, it is nice that these apartments do not necessarily require residents to be students, which makes them good options for people who need to save some money. Overall, the people have been friendly, the staff have been responsive and respectful, and the noise levels have been reasonable during the few months I have lived here. Parking can be a little chaotic sometimes, especially when there seem to be way more cars some days than others and I have on occasion not been able to find parking near my own apartment, even in the parking lots designated specifically for residents. However, most of the time it's possible to find decent parking close to the building. The cleanliness is pretty good, but these are college apartments, and sometimes there are some trash pieces that either get thrown around or blown by the wind. The dumpster overflows sometimes, but I do believe that the staff does try to keep the place pretty clean for the most part, and they do a good job. The apartment itself is decent, but of course has some wear and tear damage from years of use by other residents. There are occasionally some loose boards under the sink in the kitchen or scratches on furnature or surfaces, but nothing unmanagable, especially for the price. The biggest reason I can't really give five stars is because, despite the fact that conditions are good but not perfect, my most pressing pet peeve is the fact that several of the appliances are just old and weak. For my experience specifically, the fridge does okay, but even the freezer is uneven in how the cold is distributed, letting ice cream in the freezer get softer than expected sometimes and at the same time freezing some items on the top shelf of the refrigerator that aren't even in the freezer. It's weird, but it's not letting food go bad, so that's good. The dishwasher and washing machine have not been very good in my opinion. They are not necessarily broken, although I did need maintenance to fix the washer when I first moved in becuase it would not spin. However, even after being fixed, they are so weak that I do not feel like they actually do much cleaning. I feel more confident in handwashing dishes than have faith that the dishwasher would even sanitize them much less get scum off. The washing machine technically has some movement, but I do not feel like my clothes get very clean when using it I have seen evidence , and I feel like my clothes get cleaned best by using a laundromat down the road. Considering the low quality of the appliances even when they are not broken, I am giving a positive 4 stars mostly because of the price and people. The people have been kind and I really can't complain about the fact that I get a room for maybe half to a third of the price of an average apartment these days. It helps a lot. This is why I can solidly say it is a great starter place, especially for students just figuring out how to live on their own and take care of their own space and responsibilities, but it's not a place to stay longer than necessary in my opinion. At least not for me. I am grateful for what they offer and the amenities included. I am grateful for the kindness of the staff and the efforts to keep things clean and functional. I am not upset about anything, but I can't give 5 stars because of the lower quality of the appliances and apartments generally, but they aren't too bad, honestly. It's pretty good bang for the buck, and I know that getting something better will cost more, so I'm fine with staying a while. Thanks for the leg up, Grove
